You might get no further than enjoying dinner on the verandah during your holidays. But just in case we thought we would put together details of some of the best eating places in Argyll which we have personally tried and enjoyed.
Etive Restaurant

Using the very best produce and ingredients from Argyll and from across Scotland, Chef-Patron John's locally-sourced dishes change according to the season or depending what is coming fresh from the sea or land that day. Sommelier, David, has listed some superb wines
and his signature cocktails are widely recognised as some of the best on the west coast! One of our favourites and a must for foodies, the Etive Restaurant. £££

Tigh an Truish

Just over the Bridge across the Atlantic ,at Clachan Seil ,on the way to Oban, you will find Tigh an Truish - a family-friendly restaurant with rooms and a traditional village pub. Fresh, locally-sourced seafood, fresh fish and quality meat. The perfect meal or stay awaits! Essential to book and always busy during the holiday period.
Magical setting on a summers evening and steeped in history - apparently where the Highlanders left their kilts when the wen over to the mainland! ££
Loch Melfort Hotel

Spectacularly located on the west coast three miles from Scone Cottage overlooking Asknish Bay, the 4 star Loch Melfort Hotel is a quiet and tranquil getaway, with the awe-inspiring backdrop of woodlands and the magnificent mountains of Argyll. Tasteful decor and a gourmet dining experience . The award winning restaurant, which has breathtaking views as far as the eye can see, is perfect for a romantic meal. Visitors will enjoy the fresh local fish, shellfish landed at the local pier and free range meat or game from local farms, complemented by an extensive selection of wines. There is also a mouth-watering array of home-made bread, desserts, delicious ice creams and Scottish cheeses. Ask for a table by the window when you book or you may find yourself at the back of the restaurant and loose the benefit of the great view whilst you are eating. £££
Green Shack in Oban

Love seafood and looking for that novel eating experience head to Oban’s famous Green Shack on the CalMac Pier. This Oban institution was set up by fisherman John Ogden in 1990 to sell seafood caught by local fishermen. It’s an alfresco dining and takeaway-only shack which serves enormous seafood platters, sizzling scallops, whole cooked lobster and the best crab sandwiches you’ll ever taste, all at incredibly affordable prices. It doesn't get much better than this for the seafood lover! The views over Oban Harbour are phenomenal too. Take a seat at the outdoor communal table, tuck into your crab claws and watch the ferries to the Hebrides coming and going. One thing you can be certain of is its going to be busy. Have an early lunch! £

Lucy's Ardfern & Lucy's Popup Craobh Haven (June-September)
Lucy's is a café come bakery based in the beautiful village of Ardfern, on the rugged West Coast of Scotland. They offer delicious homemade food and baked goods, including cakes and sourdough loaves. Everything is fresh and made on their own premises every day. My favourite for Sunday breakfast after the 2 mile walk from Scone Cottage. Lovely food and plenty of vegan options. £
Lord of the Isles

Our very own pub and restaurant in Craobh Haven village at the edge of the marina. Have a great beer garden with its own limited menu, great for sitting out on a summers evening. Inside a more extensive menu is served in a friendly pub environment. Five minutes walk from Scone Cottage its an ideal location when you cant be bothered to drive. £
Tayvallich Inn

Situated in the picturesque village of Tayvallich on the shores of Loch Sween, the Inn overlooks the beautiful natural harbour of Tayvallich bay. At the heart of this small and vibrant community, the Tayvallich Inn has always been a popular meeting place for sailors, holidaymakers, more recently kayakers and all who enjoy our warm hospitality and good food. Established over 30 years ago, the Tayvallich Inn specialises in fresh, locally caught seafood, much of which is landed on their doorstep from the cold, pristine waters of the sound of Jura. Along with seafood they serve other fresh produce, sourcing locally where ever possible. ££
